The 1980s were a great time for innovation and tone pulling, amidst which Tom Scholz enters the fray with his new invention--the Rockman. Many classic 1980s tones are attributed to these little gifts which were often used as that secret studio sauce. The models designed and sold by Scholz Research & Development came to a halt in 1994 with only the Ace lines continuing on with Dunlop.
These come packed with a bit of functionality--you get clean/distortion channels with a semi/heavy switch for different levels of distortion. You get an auxiliary input and output for headphones/play-along as well as volume control with some built-in compression. Now you can make your ears bleed without getting the neighbours disgruntled.
